Prison Reform Act of 2020.
Clemency: Inmates 65 and older will be considered for clemency six times a year to help reduce the prison population.
Rehabilitation Program: A grant of $4M annually for the next five years to offer business training to nonviolent offenders.
Ending Privatized Prisons: The justice system is being forced to meet a quota by keeping prisons full. Data continues to show that the prison system is dramatically dispositioned with people of color. Data also shows that people of color are nine times more likely than whites to wait in prison until trial due to a high bail request by the courts.
Amend Strike rule: The war on drugs in 1971 was and still is a direct threat to communities of color.
Cannabis Charges: Individuals serving time for cannabis should be released and charges should be eradicated now that marijuanna is legal in more than 33 states.
Child Support: Individuals will not be sent to jail for unpaid child support, nor should an individual lose their driver’s license which enables them the ability to work.
